Best Induction Cooktop

Every person needs a cooktop that creates minimum mess, keeps the cost low and gets cleaned easily.

An induction cooktop is the perfect solution for all these issues, you can cook food with minimum hassles, while saving up to 70% energy in the process.

When it comes to induction cooktops, many people are overwhelmed with the options available in the market.

For your ease, we’ve reviewed some of the best induction cooktops, their design, features, safety functions, and applications.

Top 10 Induction Cooktops

1.Max Burton 6200 Maxi-Matic Deluxe Induction Cooktop

The Max Burton 6200 guarantees high performance, portability, energy efficiency, security and convenience and supplies you with a super quick warming feature.

It enables you to control the temperature exactly, you simply set it to the temperature you want and that is what you will receive, it means there is essentially no chance of burning anything and makes cooking much easier.

One minor problem in this respect is that the heat will be greater in the center of the pot than along the borders when you begin utilizing it so it can be a bit tricky getting things to cook evenly.

High performance, security and should you worth convenience along with portability, then this cook top is certainly a wise choice to make. It’s definitely worth its relatively high price as it’s succeeded in earning customers’ satisfaction through years of proven high performance.

This cooktop has ten temperature settings and an improper cookware notification system. It also seems to work well with many low magnetic pots and pans that normally would not work very well with an induction cooktop.

I put this at the top of my induction cooktop reviews because it works just as well as many of the expensive induction oven burners and costs less than a hundred dollars. You won’t find this kind of value with many of the other cooktops.

2.Big Boss 9147 Induction Cooktop

The Big Boss 91471300 Watt Induction Cooktop is the most efficient way to cook. It is Energy Efficient, fast, safe, ready to use indoor/outdoor and easy to program. You can sear fish, boil eggs, slow cook and keep your meal warm. This is a wonderful unit for supplementary cooking at parties or BBQ’s. This is a great introduction to induction cooking and is very affordable. I recommend it.

It compares very favorably to the more expensive models. It holds the heat steady and so far has been powerful enough to use for deep frying and fast boiling, yet gentle enough to melt and hold butter.

The concept that some settings have multiple sub-settings is a little unusual, but once you read the manual it’s more clear. The unit itself is kind of light-weight and doesn’t seem to be the highest heavy-duty quality – but you really can’t beat the price point.

This unit fits easily on a small countertop, which I have. It heats up quickly, and stays cool to the touch. You have to have an induction pan to use this. If your pots are magnetized, they will work. You also need to make sure to get light weight pans, that are smaller then 7 inches wide.

This would be a great addition to an RV or a dorm room. I don’t see that I will use it much, in my kitchen, as I have a stove, and this is a hassle to dig out. Since I can only use certain pans on it, it really isn’t worth the effort to pull out.

The price is low, so if you have a college aged child living in a dorm, this would be a good gift. It’s nice that it is cool to the touch, so it eliminates fire risk if something gets set on it, or it tips over. Just make sure you also buy an induction pan to go with it.

All in all, The Big Boss 9147 is an average portable induction burner. There is very little fine tuning in the temperature selection on this burner. This burner does not do well cooking things that need specific heat control or require a bigger pan such as pancakes. The timer is a nice feature. You can set it to turn off which is really handy for slow cooking, making oatmeal or other long-cooking food. This is a great cooktop for its price. highly recommend!

3.Aroma Housewares AID-509 Induction Cooktop

Why would I recommend the Aroma AID-509 induction cooktop? It depends. If you are looking for a very small footprint cook top, like a small apartment or college dorm room, then yes. If you are super economically conscious, then yes.

It is great for serving on its warm setting. The easy-to-use digital controls feature 7 heat settings (1 to 6 cooking heat levels along with a warm setting) and the programmable timer sets up to 180 mins. Induction cooks without flames also. This induction cooktop is great, I find it extremely easy to operate.

Pros:

[su_list icon=”icon: check” icon_color=”#8ed659″]

  • it’s very fast
  • it is very easy to use
  • the unit doesn’t heat up
  • it doesn’t get dirty and very easy to clean
  • you can serve on warm setting directly on the table

[/su_list]

Cons:

[su_list icon=”icon: times” icon_color=”#ce310a”]

  • sound: it beeps very loud, no way to deactivate it

[/su_list]

This little Aroma AID-509 induction burner seems to work just fine. It will not work without a pan/pan on it, or with a pot or pan that doesn’t have enough iron in it, so if you get an error message, you probably need a different pan. It works great with cast iron, which is what we’ve been using. I can’t give a 6 star review for the unit, but if I could I would.

4.Aroma Housewares AID-506 Induction Hot Plate

The Aroma AID-506 Induction Hot Plate is a handy addition to your kitchen. you had to purchase a special pot (porcelain covered cast iron) to cook soup, but this hot plate works great.

It does not cook the same way as electric and gas heat; more of a “tender” heat. This works great and I recommend to anyone who needs a hot plate. For the price, I think it’s a good start for induction cooking if you’re new to it.

It cleans easily. it’s very easy to use right out of the box. it Works great. Many uses: camper, classroom, family gathering. it works well and cleans up easily. Parts outside the heating ring element are plastic so you must use pans that are the correct size or only slightly larger.

Pros:

[su_list icon=”icon: check” icon_color=”#8ed659″]

  • It works with the cheap stainless steel
  • The timer is nice because you can put stuff on it, set the timer and go to bed
  • It cleans easily.
  • it’s very easy to use right out of the box.
  • It fits a small space on counter top so it’s space saving.

[/su_list]

Cons:

[su_list icon=”icon: times” icon_color=”#ce310a”]

  •  the fan noise was high

[/su_list]

It has a nice, plain looking and elegant design, without too many bells and whistles and unnecessary frills. if you did not want a complicated or too robust a thing, because I have very little available space for storing. Aroma AID-506 met my requirements in full. It is pretty, easy to use, easy to keep clean.

It was great fun discovering which pots and pans it can work with, and it indeed works very well. Six different levels of heat help do the cooking of all sorts of food. Milk boils as a breeze. Cooking takes a fraction of time. I guess this would be ok for a dorm or a trailer/cabin setting

5.True Induction S2F2 Double Burner Cooktop

The True Induction S2F2 Double Burner is an energy efficient portable induction cook top that offers the prefect union of sleek design and advanced technology. it with quick response times, even heating and instant heat adjustments and Induction cooking does not generate heat.

If you’re interested in buying this burner, you’ve probably come to realize how awesome induction cooking is and need a second burner! Maybe you just prefer something a bit bigger and prettier for your small kitchen. Either way, this is our #1 recommended portable induction cooktop for those wanting double burners.

This True Induction cooktop has 2 burners, so it is more functional than single-burner portable units. However, since this is installed into the main counter itself, it eats up very little space and provides for a great looking setting as well.

It’s powered by a standard kitchen 120V outlet. This dual induction cook top has built in power sharing technology. If you are only using one burner, that burner can utilize the full 1800 watts.

As you turn on the other burner the system automatically balances the available 1800 watts between the two burners depending on the heat settings. Traditionally, double cook tops are built at 1800 watts and just shares the power equally between the two burners at 900 watts each. This leaves wasted potential cooking power. The True Induction allows you to full use all 1800 watts! What Are The Features?

  • 2 burners with a max power level of 10 – There are 2 8″ burners. The smallest burner is 7 inches and the largest burner is 11 inches. The maximum heating capacity is 1,800 watts or 27,00 BTU when you have the booster function on. It gives you an incredible amount of control with the 17 different power levels.
  • Hold Up to 35lbs per burner – This induction burner is really well made and can even hold up to 35lbs  per burner, which is quite ridiculous. You won’t have any problem deep frying that turkey this year!
  •  2 year warranty – The reason why I consider this a feature is because most companies provide a one year warranty and I’ve heard of cooktops breaking down around the one year mark. But True Induction’s making a pretty bold statement by providing a two year warranty.
  • Exact Temperature Setting –  Temperature ranging from  150 °F – 450 °F, you can finally try that recipe that requires an exact temperature with their exact temperature setting much like an oven. It’s probably the most accurate way to cook because if you use a thermometer, you might get inaccurate readings.
  • Great Size and Portable – It’s only 23.5″ width x 14″ length x 2 1/2″ height.

What Are The Unique Benefits?

60 Day Guarantee –I love guarantees and warranties, this is the first company that sells portable induction cooktops that provides a risk free guarantee. There really is no risk at all in trying induction cooking. No more excuses!

Beautiful Design – Look how beautiful it looks on my kitchen countertop, and it doesn’t take up too much room. It’s thin, slick, simple and beautiful. Smart of them to mimic Apple’s design strategy.

Latest Technology – Most induction burners are single burners because if you had two burners both at 1,800 watts, you will blow out your circuit. But True Induction has installed the latest technology into this cooktop so you won’t have to worry about any electrical problems. So the maxed combined power level can be only 10 over both burners. For example, if you’re using both burners, it means you can have one burner at 6 and the other also at 4. If you are only using one burner, you can put the power at the maximum power level of 10. I haven’t seen any other portable induction burner that can do this yet.

Warranty

True Induction backs this model up with 2 years warranty.

This is a Truly Versatile Induction Stove

Induction Cooktop Reviews would like to remind you that this model is designed to be installed into the kitchen counter. You therefore need to cut out a portion of your counter so that this cooktop can be installed properly. However, since the True Induction S2F3 can be used by plugging it into the wall outlet, you also have the option of not installing it.

Some Basic Installation Instructions

This model can be installed in your kitchen at home or into your recreational vehicles. It’s really very easy to set up as it just drops into the cut out area of the counter and it’s ready to go. Induction Cooktop Reviews, however, stresses the importance of cutting out the correct size so as to avoid any problem. So be sure to measure the actual unit before cutting a hole in your counter.

Any tips or advice?

Whenever I used both of the burners, I noticed that I can bring most things to do a boil within 2 minutes at power level 5. So don’t worry about not having enough power. You can literally have dinner ready within 5 minutes, now that’s what I call awesome cooking.

Pros

  • Fast and efficient design – The heat from the burners are concentrated on the cooking vessels, so there’s no wasted energy that just goes into the air.
  • Space-saver – It saves on space as it will not sit on your counter. It is intended to be built-in into the counter.
  • Convenient setting – Having this on your counter area will make it easier to prepare and cook food as everything is located in one place.
  • Surface is not sensitive – The surface can be easily cleaned with ordinary cleansers.
  • Money-saver – You can save on electricity since your food preparations can be done quickly.

Cons

  • You need a specific set of induction cookware – As induction cooking only works on cooking vessels that are made of metal, you might need to buy a new set of cookware to be able to use this stove. Cast iron pots and pans are very affordable, and any type of cookware that has a magnetic bottom (you can use a magnet to check it) will work just fine too.

Who Makes It and Who Should Buy It?

  • If you have small kitchen and need to save space, it’s great for the size.
  • If you’re doing renovations to your kitchen, this will be a lifesaver because it’s portable yet big enough to cook for a family.

The True Induction S2F3 is one of the best types of induction cooktop that we have found. It is designed for counter installation, but it plugs right into a wall outlet too. There’s no re-wiring needed if you choose to set this model up into your kitchen counter.

We highly recommend this to small families since it only has 2 burners. However, it is very powerful as the highest setting can produce up to 1800 watts. You can also adjust the power levels accordingly from 1 to 10 so as to fit with your particular requirements when cooking food.

You can use the True Induction S2F2 Double Burner anywhere you have power, and it can be set to the exact temperature required in your recipe, It is easy to clean, a dream to use, keeps your kitchen cool, and would be a wonderful addition for anyone who does entertaining and wants extra serving/warming/cooking options.

And, this baby will be wonderful for the holidays, giving you so many extra options when you really need them. As you can tell, I love this double cooktop, Hope this helps other people thinking of induction.

The True Induction S2F2 Double Burner is a truly beautiful, fully functional cooktop. This product is excellent for apartments that do not allow stoves. The induction process is easy to cook with. If you need or would just like to have two burns or even think you might need tow at some time you need to look at this cooktop.

The True Induction S2F2 is wonderful! Water comes to a boil in two minutes. I never knew cooking could be so quick. I highly recommend that you do not walk away from the kitchen until you get used to how fast this unit cooks items.

12.Fissler CookStar PROX61 Portable  Induction Cooktop

Now let us look at the Fissler Cookstar Induction Pro Portable Cooktop with critical eyes since we have such high expectations from this brand.

Fissler is a German company, and their cookware sets and knives are recognized all over the world for the superior craft, design and engineering principles embodied by their products. Does their version of the induction stove live up to their reputation?

We took the liberty of browsing the web to see if there are testimonies and reviews on this particular model. And sure enough, we found some feedback as to the quality and overall performance of this induction cooker. According to a number of consumers, this unit heats up fast and it is capable of handling the preparation of a lot of dishes.

Powerful and Multi-Functional

As the burner is powered with 1500 watts, it can easily bring water to a boil. Its adjustable power levels also allow you to cook different types of recipes that call for different temperature settings. Induction Cooktop Reviews also likes the Keep Warm feature which allows a dish to stay warm without burning it.

Unique Settings on Control Panel

The Fissler induction cooker has special settings that are not normally found in standard models of induction stoves. If you want to attain the highest level of temperature quickly, you can press the Booster button on the control panel. It also has a special temperature setting labeled Keep Warm, and you can use it to warm your food without worrying about burning it. It may take some experimenting to master the settings and avoid boil overs.

Mastering the Settings on the Cooktop

As can be expected from induction burners, this unit can deliver high heat in just a few minutes. Induction Cooktop Reviews would like to warn you of boil over scenarios if you are just getting the hang of using this device. But don’t worry since induction cooking is really easy to figure out, and you’ll love it once you get used to it. For this particular model, you will find that setting it to level 3 and level 4 is often enough (unless you’re stir frying).

Fissler Cookstar Is Easy to Operate

With all the control buttons located on the front side of the unit, you will find it easy to use. The touchpad is very sensitive and you simply need to press on it gently to choose the particular setting on the device.

Slow Response Rate?

We found some complaints about the system’s slow response to the user’s input. This cooktop may be digital, but it can’t seem to accept rapid programming. But we still believe that you’ll get used to its response time as you use it more often.

PROS

  • Economical – It heats up fast and no energy is wasted while cooking food.
  • Booster Settings – There’s a heat booster mode that you can use when boiling water.
  • Quiet Fan – The internal fan on this model is very quiet and not disturbing at all.
  • Looks Good – It looks great on the kitchen countertop.
  • Keep Warm Mode – You have the option of keeping your food warm without burning it.

CONS

  • Slow Response Rate – Rapid programming is not this unit’s forte, so we suggests taking your time when pressing the buttons.

We consider the Fissler Cookstar induction cooker to be a good kitchen appliance. It has a powerful design (1500 watts) and it also comes with 9 power levels. There’s even a warming mode that you can use so that your prepared dishes can stay warm without cooking it any further or worse, burning it.

We also like that it’s portable and compact; it can therefore be taken outside for some outdoor cooking. You can also put it on your dining table and use it as a warming plate. In spite of having a slow response rate to input settings, we still like it and we are recommending it to our readers.

13.Nuwave PIC 30141 Precision Induction Cooktop

You may already be familiar with the Nuwave PIC, since it’s one of the products being featured on the As Seen On TV commercials. Yes, this unit is quite popular now, but there are some mixed reviews about it too.

Of course, now we’re in a position to comment ourselves, since, under the guise of induction experts who could give them valuable tips and tricks, we cajoled our trusting neighbors into inviting us into their kitchen to see the little marvel ourselves.

  • Pre-Programmed Settings – This unit has pre-programmed settings to make it convenient to use, but it also offers the flexibility of adjusting the temperature in increments of 10 degrees. You can choose to set the temperature anywhere from 100 degrees Fahrenheit to 575 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Programming Technology – It has a large 100-hour memory. Saved settings on time, temperature and functions can be recalled and reused at any time you want.
  • Time Delay – You have the option of using the built-in timer so that your meals will finish the cooking process at the exact time that you want it to.
  • Automatic Shut Off – Induction Cooktop Reviews likes that it automatically shuts off once it senses the removal of the cooking vessel on the surface of the unit.
  • Small and Portable – The Nuwave PIC has a compact design and it weighs only about 10 pounds. You can place it anywhere, even on top of your table, as long as there’s a power source nearby.
  • Includes a 9-Inch Frying Pan – The package includes an induction compatible frying fan.

A Versatile Cooking Appliance

What Induction Cookware Reviews likes about the Nuwave PIC is that it can do all the jobs a typical stove can do. Yes, it can boil, fry, stir fry, deep fry, simmer, steam, sauté, and sear among others. And all those can be done quickly and efficiently. But of course, you need induction compatible cookware pots and pans to do all those things (e.g. cast iron, stainless steel).

The Nuwave is perfect for folks like Scottie who don’t like reading instructions and want a good seared steak

It’s Really Economical

The Nuwave PIC is economical to use because the heat from the internal coil is directly transferred to the pan and its content. Induction Cooktop Reviews wants you to know, however, that all induction cooktops function this way. You will therefore save on time and energy as heat is not wasted unnecessarily. In fact, the surface of the unit remains cool during the whole cooking procedure.

Induction Cooktops and Your Kitchen Environment

Normally, the kitchen can have a very warm and uncomfortable temperature when one is cooking. But if you are using an induction cooktop, the kitchen environment can be very comfortable. That’s why Induction Cooktop Reviews likes this cooking device so much.

The Nuwave PIC Has Adjustable Temperature Range

Induction Cooktop Reviews found that the Nuwave PIC’s temperature range can be adjusted in increments of 10 degrees. You can therefore set its temperature to the needed setting for a particular recipe (100 to 575 degrees Fahrenheit).

Circular Design

We really like the circular design on this model of induction cooktop. Aside from making it look good and classy, it also saves on space.

The Nuwave PIC has mixed reviews, but a majority of those we found on the internet revealed that users are generally pleased with its performance. Like all induction cooktops, it does indeed heat up with supernatural swiftness and can therefore accurately cook any meal or recipe the way you want it.

And most important of all, it’s very easy to use. We noted the feedback regarding defective units, but these cases were isolated, and we cooked a wonderful breakfast for our generous neighbors using their Nuwave PIC, and it met and exceeded our expectations.  We consider it to be a portable induction cooktop, but we were able to cook up a breeze despite its compact size.

All things considered (price, features, functionality), Induction Cooktop Reviews is giving the Nuwave PIC Precision induction cooktop the benefit of the doubt.

Pros

  • Efficient system – Your pots and pans will heat up fast to allow for quick and economical cooking.
  • It comes with a free pan – An induction-ready pan is included in the package so that you can start cooking right away.
  • Maximum temperature range is very high – You can choose to set the temperature up to 575 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Lightweight – It only weighs around 10 pounds, and it can be easily transferred from one place to another.
  • Circular design – Having a circular design gives this model a really compact-looking appearance.

Cons

  • Defective units – As can be expected from As Seen on TV products, some sellers are exploiting this item and not honoring the unit’s warranty. It is therefore recommended that this model is purchased from reputable sellers only.

It’s a Powerful Little Cooking Device

This reviewer from Induction Cooktop Reviews is impressed with the 1800-watt power that’s embodied in this portable induction stove.

Too Hot? Too Noisy?

Induction Cooktop Reviews investigated on some of the customer feedback on this model of cooktop and discovered that the powerful settings can cause problems for some users.

You see, some consumers found the level 1 power setting to be too low for cooking food, but the level 2 setting produces too much heat that can cause it to burn. In this regard, we’d advice you to use thick pots and pans as these can handle high levels of heat better.

Another common issue is the loud noise from the fan. Apparently, the noise is too loud that it can be really disturbing and annoying.

 Pros

  • Versatile – This unit can help you in frying, steaming, searing, boiling, and even warming food.
  • Easy to operate – You simply need to press on some buttons if you want to increase or decrease the heat setting.
  • Powerful – It has 1800 watts and it can provide high heat for searing food.
  • Adjustable temperature – You can choose to set the temperature anywhere from 140 to 430 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Efficient and fast cooking – It produces instant heat that allows for quick and even cooking.
  • Kid-friendly – The surface area doesn’t get hot.

Cons

  • Too hot – As induction cooktops can produce high heat even at a low setting, we recommend using thick cookware sets.
  • Noisy fan – The internal fan on this model is loud.

The Fagor 670041900 Portable Induction Cooktop is an efficient unit that can produce instant heat in seconds. It cooks food faster than gas and electric stoves and it also carries a lot of safety features. If you can get past the loud fan issue, then this model can work well for you.

With its reasonable price, sleek design, and energy-saving features, Induction Cooktop Reviews can say that this Fagor portable cooktop is a good product.

Bosch NIT8666SUC Electric Induction Cooktop

I found one of the biggest built-in styles of induction stoves available on the market with the Bosch NIT8666SUC model. This is ideal for big kitchens as it has a wide cooking surface of 36 inches. You will also like this model if you are constantly using a lot of different cooking vessels while you are cooking since it has 5 burners. The biggest one is located in the middle while the other four burners can be found on both sides.

This cooktop also carries certain Bosch-exclusive features. The touch controls are embedded on a stainless steel canvas, which makes the unit different from other models of induction stoves. Furthermore, Bosch designed this product to have the capability to maintain a certain degree of temperature when frying to assure consistent and perfect results all the time.

  • Two 11-Inch Heating Elements – These components allow the cooking stove to produce up to 4.400 watts of power at the highest setting.
  • SpeedBoost – The SpeedBoost button can be used if you want to really speed up the burner’s heating process.
  • Timer – This model has a built-in timer, and you can also use it to monitor your other cooking appliances.
  • Autochef Sensor – This is a Bosch exclusive design, and it allows the temperature settings to remain constant all throughout the cooking procedure.
  • 17 Pre-Programmed Settings – There are 17 power levels that you can use when preparing meals.

Why We Like the Bosch NIT8666SUC Induction Cooktop

Induction Cooktop Reviews is dreaming about this model of cooktop. It’s the perfect size for our kitchen and we are excited to have 5 available burners when preparing different types of food. While the portable ones can also serve their purpose well, there’s nothing like having 5 burners at your disposal. This way, we won’t have to rush with a particular recipe so that we can start cooking the next meal.

A Spacious Cooktop That Doesn’t Crowd the Kitchen

This is a spacious cooktop, and even if you place 5 cooking vessels on its surface, there are still some spaces in between. And unlike traditional cooking stoves, this levels up with the counter as it is built in into the kitchen’s counter itself. Induction Cooktop Reviews finds this to be a pleasant scenario as it appears to be a part of the kitchen and not just an accessory. In fact, the counter would look really clean when there are no cooking vessels on the burners – just a smooth black top along the counters.

Bosch’s Intelligent Design

This model has another design that can’t be found in other induction stoves. As overflows can’t be avoided at times, this unit comes with an alarm. Moreover, it automatically shuts off the system so as to allow the overflowing food to cool down a bit. Induction Cooktop Reviews finds this feature to be very impressive.

Automatic Adjustment of Cooking Element

If you look at the surface of the cooktop, you will notice that it has circles in different sizes. These are the maximum sizes of cooking vessels that the unit can accommodate. However, please know that the burners adjust accordingly to the size of the pots or pans that you are using when you start cooking. Induction Cooktop Reviews assures you that no heat is wasted in this model.

Pros

  • It saves on time and energy – It cooks half the time as conventional cooking ranges and it uses half the energy consumption too.
  • Cleaning lock – Having a cleaning lock is useful when cleaning the unit up from dust and spills.
  • Appearance – It has a sleek and modern look that can enhance any kitchen (it will impress your guests too).
  • Durable – The touch controls are located on a stainless steel surface.
  • Spacious – It levels up with the counter and will give the illusion of space.

Cons

  • Quite pricey – This model of built-in induction cooktop is quite expensive. This can be attributed to the unit’s modern features; because aside from having 5 burners, it also has stainless steel components and exclusive Bosch designs.

If you are looking for a cooktop with a wide surface area, then Induction Cooktop Reviews (ICR) says that this model is definitely worth checking out. It provides for 5 burners of different sizes and it also comes in an elegant design. Having multiple burners is really helpful for cooks as you can work on different meals at the same time. You can also leave the pots and pans on the surface of the stove to keep your food warm.

This is indeed an efficient cooktop as it comes with all the basic features of an induction stove. The pre-programmed settings will allow you to set the precise temperature for your food preparation and you can even lock up the settings to make sure that it remains constant all throughout the cooking procedure.

ICR has the Bosch NIT8666SUC model on the top of our wish list and finally having it installed in our kitchen counter will be a dream come true. Is it your dream cooktop too? Then Induction Cooktop Reviews says go for it!

Built-In Design in a Small Package

While large models of induction cooktops are commonly installed in kitchen counters, some may still prefer using only one burner. This is where the Summit SINC1110 can be useful as it comes in a small piece. Induction Cooktop Reviews considers this to be a practical design, as it will mean cutting out only a small portion on your counter. Furthermore, it is also equipped with a large burner that can accommodate large and small cooking vessels.

Cool Cool Surface

The Ceran glass surface makes sure that the cooktop will always remain cool to the touch even while cooking. Induction Cooktop Reviews knows that it also means a cooler and more comfortable kitchen, so that’s another plus.

Adjustable Power Levels

Induction Cooktop Reviews is quite impressed that this small and compact device has 10 power levels to choose from. You can therefore set it at the precise setting needed for your recipes.

Pros

  • Attractive design – It comes in an elegant black design that’s mainly comprised of a glass surface.
  • Easy to Clean – You will not be seeing any baked-on messes on the glass surface since it is not a heat conductor.
  • Child-friendly – This cooktop’s surface is not hot to the touch and will not cause burns when a child accidentally touches it.
  • Practical appliance – It provides for efficient cooking without heating up the whole kitchen.
  • It comes with a cookware set – The complimentary cookware will allow you to use the unit right away.

Cons

  • It only has 1 burner – This model only has one burner. However, it can accommodate different sizes of cooking vessels.

This is a practical buy if you are only looking for a single burner induction cooktop. The price is reasonable and you can also save on electricity when cooking your meals as induction cooking is faster than gas and traditional electric stoves.

So our recommends the Summit SINC1110 model for use in small kitchens with limited counter space. You don’t even need to trouble yourself in finding induction compatible cooking vessels as a 7-piece cookware set is already included in the package.

Tatung TICT-1500W Portable Induction CookTop Cooker

Today let us taking a look at the Tatung portable Induction Cooker to see if it’s worthy of being recommended to our valued readers and friends. As the popularity of induction cooking continues to grow, we are being asked more and more about which products are good and which are not.

With the Tatung TICT-1500w model, we found that customers are praising it for its functionality and design. It is said to have a fast heating capacity, and the power controls can provide for a precise level of temperature too. All types of food can therefore be cooked on this little appliance. And there’s even a bonus stainless steel pot to inspire you to make that first meal using induction technology.

  • Heating Power – The burner can heat up to a maximum temperature of 430 degrees Fahrenheit. And there’s a plus (+) and minus (–) sign that you can press on if you want to adjust the setting.
  • Timer – You can set the timer up to two hours, and this is adjustable in 10-minute increments too.
  • Automatic Shut Off Protection – It automatically turns off to avoid overheating when there’s no cookware present.
  • Voltage Abnormality Protector – It has a built-in sensor that can detect any abnormality in the power voltage.
  • Cookware Suitability Detector – Should you place an inappropriate type of cooking vessel on the burner, the unit will beep a few times before it turns itself off.

A Responsive Induction Stove

This reviewer from Induction Cooktop Reviews is happy to report that the induction burners on this portable model heats up really fast and that it can reach up to 430 degrees Fahrenheit. You can also adjust the temperature according to your desired settings as there’s an up (+) and down (-) button to adjust the settings. The model also has a built-in cookware detector to let you know if a given pot or pan is suitable for the stove. If not, it turns off automatically.

Better Than a Standard Stove

Its glass top doesn’t heat up even if you set the unit to the maximum power. And because of this feature, spills from pots and pans will not harden up into a baked mess on the surface of the cooktop. It is also for this reason why Induction Cooktop Reviews like the principle of induction cooking.

There’s No Flame

Induction Cooktop Reviews would like to remind you that this type of cooking stove doesn’t have flame. It can therefore be used outside the house even if it’s windy. And this particular model is lightweight and compact too, so it can literally be positioned anywhere outdoors as long as there’s an electrical supply.

Let’s Take a Look at the Bonus Pot

The package comes with an induction-ready pot so as to allow you to use the cooktop as soon as you get it out of the box. While it can serve its purpose well, it is only made of single-wall stainless steel materials. Induction Cooktop Reviews doesn’t recommend this type of cookware for heavy-duty cooking in an induction stove as the high heat can easily burn the food if you’re not careful. But overall, it’s a useful piece of cookware.

Although it’s common for an induction stove to have a noticeable noise with its internal fan, there are reports about this model’s fan noise. It appears that there’s a high pitch tone emitted from the unit when it is set on a low power level. But the fan is said to function quietly when the stove is set on a high level.

Pros

  • Small – You can choose to hide it in the cabinet after use.
  • Powerful – This small and compact unit has 1,500 watts and it can heat up to a maximum of 430 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Adjustable temperature settings – You can press on the plus and minus sign to adjust the temperature.
  • Safe – It automatically shuts off when there’s no cookware on the burner.
  • Great for outdoor use – You can use it outside even if it’s windy since it doesn’t have any flame.

Cons

  • Loud fan – You may notice some noise when the unit is set at a low power setting. The fan noise, however, will decrease as you increase the level of power.

Because of the Tatung Induction Cooker’s fast and responsive qualities, Induction Cooktop Reviews consider it to be a good type of portable induction stove. It works really well, and having an adjustable temperature setting also makes it versatile and functional around the kitchen. It only has one minor flaw, and that’s the noisy fan. But other than that, it’s perfect.

For the price, this is a great deal, and it even comes with a stainless steel cooking pot. Induction Cooktop Reviews would consider buying this for our own kitchen and we’d recommend it to our friends and readers too.

Summit Appliance SINCFS1 Induction Cooktop

Induction Cooktop Reviews is a proud owner of the Summit SINCFS1 Induction Cooktop. It was a gift, and at that time, we didn’t even know about this type of cooking appliance. But now that we have cooked a hundred meals on it, we can confidently say that we know a great deal about the range of its capabilities and how it performs.

You can read a million books on induction cooking and how it works, but there’s no substitute for first-hand experience. You can show a hungry woman or man a glossy photo of a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, but looking at the photo won’t quell a ravenous appetite.

We also searched the net and found that this type of cooking device is now increasing in popularity. In fact, this particular model, the SINCFS1, has already received some positive feedback. Yes, it seems that this reviewer is not the only one impressed with it.

  • Power – Its radiant element which is responsible for heating the cookware is powered by 1800 watts.
  • 10 Power Levels – There are 10 precise settings of temperature to choose from, but these can be adjusted accordingly if you want to increase or decrease the setting.
  • Digital Controls – There is a digital display of all the settings on the front side of the unit
  • Auto Pan Recognition – The internal coil that heats up underneath the surface of the cooktop automatically shuts down after about 30 seconds if it senses that there’s no cookware placed on top of the device.
  • Heating Elements – This model is equipped with 4 heating elements to effectively trigger the electromagnetic field that’s responsible for heating the contents of an induction compatible cookware.
  • Cerana Surface – Induction Cooktop Reviews likes this black glass surface because it’s smooth, elegant-looking, and durable too.
  • Timer – It also has a digital timer so that you can keep track of the cooking time for a particular recipe.
  • Energy Efficient Design – This model, as with all induction cooktops, directly heats the contents of the cookware currently being used. No amount of heat is wasted on the surface or even in the air.
  • Portable Design – This is a free standing unit and can be used anywhere as long as there’s an electrical source.
  • Complimentary Cookware Set – The Package includes a 7-piece stainless steel cookware set.

Warranty

This particular model is backed by a 1-year warranty on parts and labor.

Fast Heating Equals Quick Cooking

Induction Cooktop Reviews is really impressed with the fast heating feature of this model. Cooking eggs for breakfast becomes a swift and easy task as it can cook 2 eggs at the same time in just about 1 minute. And that time even includes starting from a cold pan.

Go Ahead and Touch the Surface … It’s Not Hot

This is one of the wonders of an induction cooktop, the surface remains cold to the touch. Induction Cooktop Reviews investigated why this is so, and we found out that the heat produced by the internal coils of the unit is only directed to the pot or pan and not to the surrounding environment. Now, none of us were science majors in college (liberal arts all the way), so we tend to circumvent the hard-core explanatory esoterica when it comes to explaining how induction cooking works, though we have a pretty good basic understanding of the processes involved. So we’ll put it this way: only the cookware and the contents are being heated and not the entire the unit itself.

Whenever we have company, we never tire of placing our hand on the surface of the cooktop while the food simmers, boils, or fries like there’s no tomorrow. We love snatching the hand off the surface of the cooktop and yelling, “Call 911!” We are easily entertained and make any guest who enters the house sign a waiver stating that they, too, are just as easily entertained.

VERY Easy to Clean

As you have seen in the features section of this review, the SINCFS1 has a smooth glassy surface. This reviewer from Induction Cooktop Reviews uses a damp cloth to wipe the surfaces clean, and the cooktop looks shiny and new again. The surface is not really that sensitive, so you will not have any trouble cleaning it at all. After all, there’s not a great deal of heavy-duty scrubbing when the surface of the cooktop isn’t caked with hard-to-remove baked-on gunk.

Induction Cookware Freebies

Induction Cooktop Reviews is happy to announce that the Summit SINCFS1 comes with a complimentary set of stainless steel cookware set to help you start cooking with this unit right away. You get a 9.5-inch skillet, a 5-quart casserole (with lid), a 3-quart sauce pan (with lid) and a 5-quart sauce pan (with lid).

Pros

  • Easy to use – You can fry eggs in as fast as 1 minute and boil a gallon of water in about 10 minutes or so.
  • Small appearance – This model is compact enough to fit in small kitchen counters.
  • Powerful – It has 1800 watts and the power level can be set up to number 10.
  • Warranty – It has a 1 year warranty on parts and labor.
  • Easy to clean – The glass surface can simply be wiped with a damp cloth.

Cons

  • Power level 10 is too hot – As level 10 can burn your food especially when left unattended, we suggest using the low and medium settings only as these are capable of cooking your food without burning them.

Induction Cooktop Reviews are great fans of the induction cooktop cooking device. But this particular reviewer is really fond of this model and uses it more than the gas and electric stoves we have at home. Because of its pan recognition ability, heat and power are not wasted at all. We can only advise future users to refrain from using the high setting too much as the unit is really capable of producing heat easily and can therefore burn your food. More often than not, the low and medium settings are enough to carry out the typical procedures of cooking.

The Summit SINCFS1 is truly an amazing kitchen companion, and this reviewer is just downright infatuated with it. Induction Cooktop Reviews endorses this product and wants you to experience the thrill of induction cooking too.

As there are now a lot of models out there, we can only review and give our honest opinion about each of them. • Portable – Aside from having a compact appearance, it’s also lightweight. It can be used anywhere as long as there’s an electrical outlet.

Safest Cooking Appliance

Induction Cooktop Reviews Induction Cooktop Reviews became great fans of induction stoves because of their many safety features. Like the Eurodib Single Induction Cooktop, for example; it has no flame and the glass top remains cool to the touch too. And it’s also equipped with an automatic shut off system that can sense when there’s too much heat or when there’s no cookware on the burner.

Great for Outdoor Use

Induction Cooktop Reviews like the portability feature of this model. It can be used outdoors even when it’s windy as it doesn’t depend on fire to cook the contents of a pot or pan. But since it needs electricity like electric stoves, you need to have an electrical outlet outdoors too.

Great for Indoor Use

Induction cooktops are also convenient for indoor use because it will not heat up the kitchen like standard cooking stoves. You will appreciate this feature especially during hot months.

It’s a Green Cooking Device

Induction Cooktop Reviews also like the environment-friendly features of induction burners. Since the production of heat depends on magnetic waves, it doesn’t release poisonous gases in the air.

Fast and Efficient Design

You will find this Eurodib induction stove to be energy efficient and time saving. Because of the direct heating design, meals are cooked faster than when prepared in standard stoves. Induction Cooktop Reviews cautions you in using this model’s high temperature setting indiscriminately as it can reach up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit which is really REALLY hot. If you’re boiling water, spots of water may even start to escape the pot and cause accidents. We only recommend the high setting for stir frying as the wok needs to be very hot to perform this procedure efficiently.

The Power Levels on the Eurodib Cooktop

This reviewer from Induction Cooktop Reviews likes stoves with adjustable settings. The Eurodib Single Induction Cooktop, for instance, has 10 power levels. So you can easily choose a low or high setting depending on the type of food that you are cooking. It gives you the flexibility of choosing a setting that’s either low enough or high enough for a given recipe. It sure beats those models of cooking stoves that simply have the on and off switch and no temperature control.

It Automatically Shuts Off

This induction stove automatically shuts off within 4 seconds of sensing the absence of a cooking vessel. So if you happen to remove the pan from the burner to replace it with a different pot to cook another dish, you might find that the unit has already turned itself off. While this may be a little annoying at times, Induction Cooktop Reviews still appreciates this safety mechanism. After all, it only takes half a second to turn the unit on again.

Pros

  • Reliable – This unit can deliver heat really really fast.
  • Versatile –You can fry, boil, steam, simmer, and sauté on this cooking stove.
  • Flexible temperature settings – The temperature can be set up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, and this can be adjusted in increments of 30 degrees too.
  • 10 power levels – You can choose the appropriate setting for your food as you can set the temperature very high or very low.
  • Good for outdoor use – It is so portable and lightweight that you can use it outside too.

Cons

  • Auto shut-off can be annoying – It automatically shuts off when it senses that there’s no pot or pan on the burner; so you might find yourself turning it on again and again. But note that this is still a good safety measure.

The Eurodib Cooktop Single Induction Burner is a well-built and well-designed product, and we like it a lot. Its glass surface never gets hot and it also has an automatic shut off feature. As far as the power is concerned, it’s very powerful as the maximum temperature setting can heat up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

You can definitely use it for frying, simmering, sautéing, and even boiling. The burner is also big enough to accommodate 10-inch pans for preparing large portions of meal. And should you decide to use smaller pans, you can also do so as the magnetic field in induction cooking adjusts to the size of the cooking vessel. Induction Cooktop Reviews likes the Eurodib Cooktop so much that we plan getting one and adding it to our ever-grrwing collection of portable induction cooktops soon. We also recommend it to our readers.

Max Burton 6015 Portable Induction Cooktop Stove

The Max Burton 6015 Portable Induction Cooktop is a great product for college students! It’s great for those who are also just learning about induction cooking and for those who like to cook outdoors.

1. Induction Interface Disc – I love this portable induction cooktop because the interface disc allows me to cook with any cookware, not only induction compatible cookware. I love using my glass Pyrex to bake and using it on a cooktop is even more awesome.

2. Slick Design – I really do love the design of this cooktop because I have seen other cooktops with big ugly knobs to control the temperature. Those look they belong in some lab. But the press control panel on this unit is very pretty and works great.

3. Super Light & Portable – I love that this induction cooktop only weighs 12 pounds, which makes it really portable. Seriously, imagine having fondue with family and friends in the backyard without having to use a huge propane tank for your gas stove.

Induction Disc – The greatest benefit of this induction cooktop is the also its single disadvantage. Like I mentioned above the interface disc is great because it allows you to cook with any cookware, but the temperature setting might not necessary reflect the true temperature in the pot.

This happens because some of the heat is lost depending on the cookware that you use, which is understandable. I did find a solution in that you just need to adjust the temperature setting to be a bit higher than what you need. Also double checking with a thermometer would give the most accurate reading.

BergHOFF Double Touch Screen Induction CookTop

This is a more functional unit as you can use two different cooking vessels all at once. Yes, in spite of the fast cooking process associated with induction cooking, we still want to cook two meals at the same time instead of waiting for the first one to finish. It’s a more efficient approach to cooking, if you ask us.

It’s Simple and Easy to Use!

Induction Cooktop Reviews likes the fact that this BergHOFF model is incorporated with 2 burners. While the one-burner type is useful too, this is more convenient and more practical as you can use two cooking vessels at the same time. And even if there are 2 induction burners, the response time is just as quick and efficient. The temperature settings can also be adjusted accordingly to suit your specific needs.

We Suggest Using High Quality Pots and Pans

We always do our assignment here at Induction Cooktop Reviews. And for this particular model, we found out that it is quite sensitive when it comes to cookware. While cast iron pots and pans are quite affordable, these can produce squeaking sounds while cooking on the induction cooktop. So if you want to avoid this problem, we suggest investing on high quality cookware sets.

Innovative and Safe

The BergHOFF 2204221 is truly an innovative product; and Induction Cooktop Reviews sees that it’s one of those induction cookers that are easy to like.

It heats up pan in seconds, and the surface of the unit remains cool to the touch too. Try removing the cookware, and the cooktop will go on a search mode for a few seconds. And if it doesn’t detect a cooking vessel at the given time, then it automatically shuts down.

Pros

  • Variable temperature controls – The different settings will allow you to cook different types of meals.
  • Safe – Induction cooking only heats up the pan, and not the surface of the stove.
  • Double burner – It has 2 burners that can be programmed to the highest settings at the same time.
  • Stylish – It comes in a stylish and modern design.
  • Cool kitchen – Your kitchen environment will remain cool and comfortable as the heat from the stove is only concentrated on the pots and pans.

Cons

  • Squeaking sounds – Some consumers noticed that cheap types of cookware can produce squeaking sounds when the temperature is set at the lowest range. The noise is said to disappear once the temperature starts to go higher.

We really like the look and presentation of the BergHOFF Double Touch Screen Induction Cooktop. It’s thin and flat, and the black design makes it look modern and classy. It is quite portable too, as it only weighs around 15 pounds. And its maximum output can go up to 1800 watts.

Just the fact that it has 2 burners makes it well worth the price. And you can use small as well as big cooking vessels on it too. You don’t need to worry about wasting energy as the induction elements can automatically adjust to the size of the bottom of the pan.

All in all, our recommends it to those who are looking for a double burner model of induction cooktop, but don’t want to cut holes on their kitchen counters.

BergHOFF Single Touch Screen Induction CookTop

It Saves on Energy

Induction Cooktop Reviews loves the concept of induction cooking mainly because of its efficient heating system.

The BergHOFF 1810027 can heat up pots and pans in seconds, and it can even keep your kitchen cool during the cooking process. Yes, the magnetic elements of the induction stove only heats up the cooking vessels, and not the surrounding environment. Ergo: no wasted energy.

This is a reliable cooking stove, and Induction Cooktop Reviews found that it can quickly bring water to a boil. The temperature can also be lowered down qickly since the unit is very responsive to the controls. You will therefore find it easy to operate as it has a reliable user interface.

Built-In Sensor Guarantees Safety

This model is equipped with a built-in sensor for additional safety. We give a big thumbs-up for the feature that automatically jumps into action and turns off the unit when the pan is removed from the burners. And it won’t heat up if you are using the wrong type of cooking vessels too.

Portable and Easy to Carry

Those who like cooking outdoors will love this model of cooktop. Induction Cooktop Reviews recommends this unit to people who like setting up barbeque grills in their backyards. You see, the BergHOFF can serve as an additional cooking device when preparing side dishes.

PROS

  •  Fast and Efficient Cooking– It heats up fast and no energy is wasted while cooking food.

  •   Steady Temperature – Foods are cooked evenly.
  •   Affordable – This model is reasonably priced..

This unit is safe and convenient to use; and its light and compact design allows it to be used even in small apartments and small kitchens too. You can also choose to use this outdoors as it’s very easy to carry and set up.

With gas or electric stoves you get grime, or food falls into the cooktop and gets burnt. With a ge induction cooktop you just need to wipe the smooth glass surface its clean, and bravo.

it is fast and safe to use, easy to clean.it only compatible with induction ready cookware such as cast aluminum enameled iron and steel, stainless steel with a magnetic bottom, or cast iron. I would recommend this to everyone looking for an Induction Cooktop.

The duxtop 8300st  is easy to install and easy to use. The model# 8300ST has an on/off switch and control for the power level and temperature levels. These cooktops are a snap to clean. Simply wipe clean with a damp cloth when the cooktop is cool after cooking.

In comparison with the traditional PVC Sticker control panel, the sensor touch control panel is durable for long-term use.The auto-pan detection will turn off heating when cookware removed from the cooktop and shut the unit automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware is detected.

Aesthetically pleasing to the eyes – Out of all the cooktops that I’ve seen online, the Duxtop Induction cooktop is simply beautiful. The design of the cooktop is very slick and seems like they took a page out of Steve Job’s design and designed it to be simple but elegant. It seriously looks great on my granite countertop.

Sensor Touch Control Panel –  The buttons on the older models tend to wear down after a few years but the new sensor touch is great and sensitive. I mean I love everything touch screen and the fact that the entire control panel is controlled by touch screams total geek. Who said geeks can’t cook? But seriously, induction cooktops are probably the only cooktop that can make touch control panels possible because you won’t get burned. Try building a touch control panel for your gas stove.

Significantly Light – It only ways 9lbs, which makes it super portable. That way you won’t have to just use it in your kitchen, but it’s great for summer backyard cooking.

It saves time to warm up a cold pan, and when it comes to heat up a large quantity of water it cuts the time at least by 50%, to be the safe side. The cook top stays cool at least for the first 10 minutes of cooking. The sensitive touch panel works great, very sensitive to touches. One more advantage of the touch sensitive control pad over the traditional control panel is the extended lifetime.

It really is a great beginner’s model for those who are interested in trying induction cooking for the first time. You can’t go wrong this one. Max Burton 6200 Deluxe Induction Cooktop

With the Max Burton 6200 Induction Cooktop you can cook without a device that itself generates heat. The Burton performs all of these functions perfectly and in much less time than you have been used to using your gas or electric range.

The controls on this device are simple and intuitive. Anyone who has used any kind of digital whatever will quickly learn how to operate the Burton. The cooking surface is glass. The surround is stainless steel.

It has a fan that operates independently of the controls to cool the device (because it can heat up from the heat conducted by the cookware). Cookware MUST be magnetic. If the small refrigerator-style magnet (included with the device) will stick to your pot or pan, it will work perfectly with the Burton.

The device is approximately 12 inches square and sits approximately 3 inches high, so it takes up very little space on the counter while in use. It does not heat the countertop or generate any heat that might damage objects sitting nearby.

The pot gets plenty hot, but the Burton doesn’t. The cooking surface will heat up due to contact with the pot, but my experience is that with the dish towel covering the Burton, it doesn’t heat up significantly. Unlike an electric range or a standard electric hotplate, the Burton does not get dangerously (to touch) hot while in use.

Pros:

[su_list icon=”icon: check” icon_color=”#8ed659″]

  • It is lightweight easy to transport.
  • it is easy to clean,
  • it works great with heats fast
  • it is safe, saves money
  • it uses less energy and does not heat up the kitchen as much.

[/su_list]

Cons:

[su_list icon=”icon: times” icon_color=”#ce310a”]

  • It has a loud air fan to keep it cool.

[/su_list]

All in all, the Max Burton 6200 is a great inexpensive tool to learn induction cooking and what to look for before you plonk your money down for that big-bucks 4 or 5 element full size induction cooktop kitchen upgrade.

Max Burton you are a Genius!!! This Induction cookware makes you Happy every single time I use it. It’s Powerful, Classy looking & gets the job done without feeling any “and I mean Any Heat at all while cooking” Amazing. you should Try it!

  • Safe, even when used around children
  • Attractive and compact
  • Heats food in pans quickly and maintains a steady temperature
  • Changes in temperature level are immediate
  • Doesn’t heat up the kitchen

[/su_list]

Cons:

[su_list icon=”icon: times” icon_color=”#ce310a”]

  • The fan is quite loud.

[/su_list]

overall, the fagor portable induction cooktop is a nice looking product that does what it is designed to do. The interface is easy to use and allows you to quickly control the temperature. The buttons are a little touchy, but the loud beeps will alert you when buttons are pressed. I thought this would be an annoying feature, but it’s actually pretty nice that the unit turns itself off when the cookware is removed from the plate for a number of seconds.

If you want to avoid the beeping though, it’s just as easy to tap the power button when finished cooking. The power cord is really my only complaint. It’s a very thick cord and hard to manage. I find myself having to rearrange things on the counter just to allow for the cooktop to be plugged in. Otherwise, induction cooking is turning into a personal preference thanks to fagor 670041470 cooktop.

What Is An Induction Cooktop ? – Pros And Cons

Inductions is a technology that uses electromagnetic energy to transfer heat directly to the saucepan. This makes making cooking faster and more energy efficient.

Suffice to say the science works; just know the benefits are faster heating and more control which allows you to easily adjust the heat from a light simmer to a rolling boil.

Today’s induction cooktops are and engineered and manufactured to work extremely well within both commercial and residential kitchens.  They are designed to fit into any kitchen space and work with maximum efficiency.  Every part, right down to the last nut, bolt, and diode is tested to ensure it can meet anything the modern cook can throw at it.

what is an induction cooktop?

The induction process takes place beneath the glass cooking surface where a high frequency coil creates heat by generating a magnetic field.  This heat heats the cookware on the cooktop.

While induction cooking is no longer considered a new style of cooking, it is still considered by many to be outside of the norm and as a result some people would like to know more, but without all of the science.

Induction Cooktop Features

Looking at each manufacturers site can quickly lead to confusion as you try and weigh one brand against another. The following list tries to simplify the different features that are available – no one brand can claim them all, and each person will have different desires and favorite features. I’ll be honest – as long as it has the basic features I feel I need, I am swayed by how good it looks!

Bridge elements span the gap between two more usual circular burners. This allows use of odder shaped pans such as fish kettles or larger griddles.

High heat sensors are designed to protect the cooktop from damage. They should shut off supply to a burner if dangerously high temperatures are detected – for instance if an empty pan is left on a burner that is switched on

Multiple power levels are available on many cooktops. At the time of writing GE boasts of 19 levels on their current models.

Power boost is a feature allowing you to quickly bring a pot up to high temperature – most useful probably for boiling water. One aspect to note with this is that power boost is usually only available to be used with a few of the elements at any one time. It often works by temporarily reducing the energy supplied to the other burners

Pan detect only supplies energy to the area of the element that comes in contact with the pan. This means no unneeded energy will escape to the sides of the pot, hopefully making your kitchen cooler and more energy-efficient.

Safe start (or pot recognition) features distinguish between pots or pans and smaller items like utensils that may accidentally be left on the cooktop. They usually look for a saucepan at least 4 or 5 inches in diameter before starting.

Control lock capability gives the ability to lock the cooktop’s controls, to avoid unintended activation.

Timers vary by brand and can be a simple as a single countwon timer to timers dedicated to each burner

Hot surface indicator lights illuminate when the cooking surface is hot. (Don’t forget that even though the surface does not heat up to heat the pan, the hot pan will itself transfer some heat back to the cooktop surface

Warming capability provides low heat capability for foods, making meal coordination simple

Anti-Overflow System: Sensors in the glass can detect large spills or excessive overflow, automatically shut off the cooktop, and sound an alarm to alert you of the situation. (Wow do I need that!)

Trim around the cooktop can vary – some have raised stainless steel lips, some a beveled edge, and some come flush mounted.

Touch pad controls seem to be the norm – I have used these in a previous house and loved them. A few brands still have more traditional style knobs so if that is your preference you should still be OK

Smooth cooktop is there by default on all induction cooktops and makes clean up really easy – especially as there should not be any burnt on spills.

How to chose the right induction cooktop for you

When it comes to choosing a new cooktop, there are many choices available. You can choose gas, electrical or induction units. This article will discuss today’s newest technology- the induction cooktop.

One of the biggest advantages of choosing an induction cooktop is its energy savings. With induction cooktops, there isn’t a lot of heat generated during the cooking process. An induction cooktop uses electromagnetic energy to quickly heat the cookware itself, allowing you to save both energy and time.

Induction Cooktops save energy

In addition to saving energy, induction cooking allows you to quickly cook your food. On average, induction cooktops can save you as much as 50 percent of cooking time versus standard electric or gas cooktops. This is because induction cooktops turn your entire skillet into a heating source.

Is induction cooktops safe?

Induction cooktops are generally safer than standard cooktops because surfaces remain cooler. Unlike a gas cooktop, there is no open flame to ignite grease. These cooktops offer the advantage of a sealed top which makes cleanup a breeze.

What are the other advantages of induction cooktops?

As you can see, there are many advantages to induction cooktops. If you still aren’t for sure that this type of cooktop is right for you, visit a home improvement store and ask for a demonstration. Who knows, after seeing how it works, you may decide this is exactly what you have been looking for!

Are there special pots and pans required for induction cooking?

Yes, there are special pots and pans required for induction cooking.   In order for induction cooking to work, the cookware must have iron in the bottom.  This is necessary for the high frequency coil to create the magnetic field which generates the cooking heat.  To check if your cookware will work on an induction cooktop, apply a magnet to the bottom of a pot. If the magnet sticks, your cookware will work on an induction cooktop.

Induction cooktops vs conventional cooktops

Q.  Compared to conventional cooktops, how fast is induction cooking?

A.  Induction cooktops and portable induction cook ops will cook food much more quickly than conventional cooktops including radiant or gas cooktops.  For example, an induction cooktop will bring one and one half gallons of water to a boil in approximately 8 ½ minutes.  It takes a radiant cooktop approximately 12 minutes and a gas cooktop approximately 13 ¾ minutes.

Q.  Does an induction cooktop allow control of the heat for cooking of delicate foods, chocolate, soups, etc.?

A.  Yes, induction cooktops have very precise cooking controls which allow control of the heat with a precision that is not typically found on conventional cooktops.  Induction cooking offers a low heat setting which is perfect for sauces and delicate dips which need low simmering and for any number of dishes that must be prepared at very low cooking temperatures.

Q.  Why don’t the surrounding surface areas on the induction cooktops get hot?

A.  Only the area that is in direct with the iron content of the cookware is what the induction cooktop heats.  This is how induction cooking technology targets only specific, focused areas for heating while leaving the remaining surfaces unheated and cool.

Q.  How is induction cooking different from radiant or gas cooking?

A.  Induction cooking requires no open flame, heated surface or exposed hot coil.  Even if an element were accidently turned on, no heat would be produced unless a cooking pot or pan were placed directly on that element creating a magnetic field.  When cookware is removed from an element, the coil is de-energized and the element cycles into an automatic turn-off within 30 seconds.

Q.  Is it possible to replace an existing conventional radiant or gas cooktop with an induction cooktop?

A.  Yes, there are a variety of induction cooktops available which can be fitted into existing kitchen countertops and other cabinet spaces to replace existing conventional gas and radiant cooktops.  These induction cooktops are available in a wide selection of sizes to fit almost any arrangement or size necessary.

Q.  Are there induction cooktops that can be installed with wall ovens?

A.  Yes, there are models of induction cooktops which can be installed above or in addition to, wall ovens.  It is best to discuss this option with a professional kitchen appliance dealer or installation professional to understand all of the options available.

Q.  Can an extension cord be used with an induction cooktop?

A.  Yes, but it is not recommended to use an extension cord with any kitchen appliance for safety considerations.  If an extension cord is used with an induction cooktop, it should only be used with the 100 to 130 VAC models and the cord should never be longer than ten feet long and should be an industrial weight extension cord with a reinforced, 3-pronged plug.   Many extension cords are poorly constructed there is a danger of tripping or shorting a fuse or breaker when using an extension cord.  Never use an extension cord with an induction cooking top designated 200 to 240 VAC.

Benefits of Induction cooktops:

  • More control than other cooktops – easily and quickly adjust the heat from a simmer to a boil
  • More accurate that electric or gas – fine tune the heat. Just think of the ease for cooking at lower settings when making delicate sauces, warming milk, melting chocolate, etc
  • Boil water in half the time – many induction cooktops have a boost function that create heat faster
  • Efficient – more responsive + boost means using energy more efficiently
  • Sized for your cookware – sensors detect the magnetic field from your pans and adjust to the exact size
  • Cooler cooktop – the cooktop is not heated! The only heat occurs in your cookware so area stays cooler
  • Warming feature – maintain a constant warming temperature while you cook the rest of the meal
  • Compatible cookware – Glass and some other saucepans will not work – but use the rule of thumb that if a magnet sticks to your cookware, it will work with an induction cooktop

Pros And Cons Of An Induction Cooker

knows that anyone who spends significant time in the kitchen ends up eventually searching for faster and better cooking technology and methods. Environmental concerns have also found their way into the kitchen, and nowadays, using energy-efficient options have become important to many consumers.

These concerns and priorities have opened the door to induction cooking and utilities, which enables consumers to effectively address these their desire to cook faster, better, and with greater efficiency.

Induction cooking, which generates heat via a high-frequency electromagnetic field, is completely different from the conventional tools and utilities consumers have historically used in the kitchen to prepare their meals. People are no longer restricted to using electric and gas options. Since the induction cooker is moving out of the shadows and into the mainstream, it’s appropriate to know the technological advantages and disadvantages.

There are many benefits, but it’s important to know about the drawbacks as well. Understanding the pluses and minuses of owning induction cookers can help you to make an educated decision if you’re seriously thinking about taking that big leap away from the familiar traditional world of gas and electric.

PROS

NO MORE WASTED HEAT – Using an induction cooker, the bottom of the pan or pot is directly heated directly by a electromagnetic field and absorbs all the heat energy that’s produced.

COOLER KITCHEN – Using a traditional radiant cooktop, the cookware indirectly receives the heat, since the energy has to be converted to heat before it can be deployed to the pot or pan. For this reason, significant heat loss can occur due to the fact that some of the heat escapes to warm the kitchen instead of the food. This means that an induction kitchen will tend to be cooler – a plus during sweltering summer months.

SAFETY – Individual induction elements do not get hot except for the area directly under the pot or pan, since heat from an induction cooker is only transferred to magnetic objects. The risk of burned fingers is nonexistent if a child (or adult) puts their hands on burner’s edge. Also, spills and stains and spills don’t get baked onto the cooktop.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY – Because an induction cooker is more powerful than their electric or gas counterparts, they heat up much more quickly. This capacity for instant heating, combined with the very little wasted heat, means that food requires less time on the cooktop and cooks much faster. In this case, faster is better, because faster cooking times enables you to consume less energy – and this, of course, can reduce your energy bill and is far better for our overtaxed environment.

INSTALLATION BENEFITS – Because induction units are, on average, quite thin, they typically require not more than 2 inches of depth under the countertop. Installation is easy, convenient and saves the space that its bulkier cooking counterparts often demand.

CLEANLINESS – When gas burns, it produces byproducts that Burning gas has byproducts that, while vaporized, inevitably condense on surfaces in the cooktop’s vicinity. Such byproducts are eliminated by electrical cooking.

CONS

ONLY STAINLESS STEEL OR CAST IRON COOKWARE CAN BE USED – Some consider this to be the biggest drawback to induction cooking: these cooktops will accommodate only certain types of cookware. An induction cooktop produces a magnetic field to heat items, and so all pans and pots will have to be made from materials with magnetic properties. Cookware materials compatible with induction cooktops include stainless steel and cast iron. Such pots and pans aren’t necessarily expensive, but if you already have a kitchen replete with aluminum, glass or copper, cookware, the expense of replacing everything can add up. Some people reduce this expense by buying a device called an induction cooktop interface disk. The interface disk allows you to use any non-induction (i.e., non-ferrous) cookware, including glass, aluminum, porcelain, copper and stainless steel. The device works in conjunction with any induction cooktop, whether the cooktop is a full range or a portable induction unit.. The disk is placed directly on the induction surface, and the cookware is place on top of the disk.

INDUCTION NOISE – Although the induction cooking process is itself noiseless, many induction stovetops are equipped with a fan that precludes overheating. For those who may be hypersensitive to noise, the fan’s ticking sound, as it cuts in and out, may be annoying. Also, vibrations emanating from the cooktop’s magnetic field might possibly cause a rattling sound if the pan or pan handles are loose. Irregular bottoms or lids can also rattle as as a result of the vibrations.

ELECTRICAL POWER INTERRUPTIONS – If your home is subject to frequent electrical power outages and electricity is interrupted, you will not be able to cook. While the supply of gas to your home can also be interrupted, such interruptions are probably not as likely to occur when compared to electrical interruptions. If you’re subject to frequent electricity interruptions, being prepared is probably the best way to contend with the possibility of not being able to cook during the outage period: a small emergency generator, perhaps propane-powered, is definitely a good idea.

Why Induction Cooking?

Induction cooktops function by making use of magnetism to heat the pan and, like a gas stove burner, react immediately whenever more or less temperature is needed. When compared to other cooking methods induction cooktops use less energy.

An additional characteristic of the induction cooker is that it’s very easy to clean. The units can be cleaned with a soft cloth and light detergent soap seconds after your cooking is done.

Induction cooktops produce a way to cook with security, increased efficacy, and speed. They have become much more affordable in recent times, which implies more folks have been able to enjoy the ease and advantage of induction cooking. Professional chefs have also embraced induction cooktops, chiefly because they’re so precise. With the different available models, induction cooking can supplement or replace cooking on gas and electric ranges.

They say that induction cooktops are the best. So what are the features of induction cooktops? The pros and cons? If, like me, you love the control and speed you get with gas but cannot put in a gas cooktop, then maybe you too are considering a switch to an induction cooktop. Maybe you are remodelling your kitchen and would like the latest technology.

All of the content of this site comes into the question “Is an induction cooktop right for us?” Join us in looking at the pros and cons of induction cooktops. We try to answer all of our questions about induction cooktops: How do induction cooktops work? What features should I care about when shopping for an induciton cooktop? How good are induction cooktops? Are they energy efficient? Will my saucepans work on an induction cooktop? Whatcookware works best on an induction cooktop? Are they safe?

The future of cooking now lies with induction cookers. Induction cooking is rapidly becoming the preferred method of cooking for most people, with no heat transfer from the portable induction cooker.

With no heat transfer it is safe in the kitchen, caravan or mobile home and great for camping. They can be bought at reasonable price, they are lightweight and most induction hobs have a power of around 2000KW which you can control.

How Does Induction Cooking Work?

Induction cooktops work with electromagnetic currents produced by high quality copper wires. These wires are placed with ceramic topped burners. When the equipment is switched on, the electromagnetic current allows the burners to act as a strong electromagnet.

This causes the molecules of the pan to rigorously vibrate and product heat. Instead of heating the cooktop, the induction process heats the pan. This leads to higher energy efficiency. Energy is not lost in the surrounding environment.

I wrote an article called “How Does Induction Cooking Work?” along with a handful of articles and reviews explaining how induction cooking works, its ample advantages compared to its disadvantages, why it’s more efficient, safer, cooler, and we crafted the articles painstakingly so that basic questions would be answered for beginners, while hinting at the underlying technical complexities of cooking food with magnetic fields.

While we deluded ourselves into thinking that we did a fine job, our friends read the material and offered ample constructive criticism. It seems the induction cooking beginners insisted that what we wrote was too technical, while the more advanced induction cooking devotees complained that our approach — one of oversimplification — was something of a blandly rendered cop-out that did not do justice to elegantly complex subject matter.

Thus we learned that sometimes, you can’t please any of the people any of the time.

So we decided that as far as explaining, perhaps a picture (or a video) would be worth a thousand of our well-meaning but unwieldy words. One of our helpful neighbors directed our attention to a Miele induction cooktop reviews video and suggested that we might be doing ourselves and our visitors a favor by letting the consummate experts cover all the induction ABCs. Well, that made sense, didn’t it? We don’t mind leaving our egos at the door and letting Miele’s video do all the dirty work.

And so we leave you for a brief 2 minutes and 25 seconds in Miele’s capable hands.

Induction Cooking’s 2-Part System

At the crux of the first part of the system is a coil of copper wire. An electric current is passed through the coil and creates an electromagnetic field of energy. Electromagnetic energy surrounds us – permeates us, one might say – day and night in the form of wireless laptops, cell phones, AM/FM radio, microwaves, infra-red, and visible light spectra.

At the crux of the second part of the 2-part system is the pan or cookware. Not all pans will work on an induction cooktop: non-magnetic stainless steel, pans or pots that are 100% cooper or aluminum, won’t work with induction systems. The bottom of the pan must have some iron content. You can determine if your pans and pots have an iron-based core by holding a magnet to the pan’s bottom. If the magnet sticks, you have your answer – the pan will work on your induction cooktop.

Let’s find out a bit more about this 2-part system and see it in action, thanks to our friends over at GE Electric.

Induction Cooking’s 2-Part System

Induction cooktop reviews are useless if you don’t know what an induction cooktop is and why you should buy it. On this page I’ll go over exactly what they are and their advantages and disadvantages.

An induction cooktop is a cooking surface that can only work when metal is placed on top of it. This type of cooking device works by using a copper wire and a magnetic field which causes whatever is in your metal pot or pan to get hot.

The big advantage to this type of cooktop is that it will not become active unless you have placed metal on top of it. In addition to this, there is no gas and no open flame. This means you’ll never have to worry about a gas leak or a gas explosion from your induction cooktop. When looking at induction cooktop reviews, this is something you really want to think about.

Another advantage of this cooktop is that it uses less energy than other cooking devices. In addition to this, it is much easier to clean. This is because the surface is flat and can easily be wiped down after use.

One big disadvantage that you might want to think about when looking at induction cooktop reviews is the fact that you are limited in what kinds of pans you can use. An induction surface only works with magnetic metals and will not work well with pots and pans that cannot hold a magnet. Stone pots and pans are absolutely useless on an induction oven.

Another minor disadvantage is that you must use pots and pans with flat surfaces. I say this is a minor disadvantage, because I cannot think of any pots and pans that I have owned that did not have a flat surface on them.

The rapidly changing technology has revolutionized almost everything, and kitchen appliances are no exception. With the presence of state-of-the-art refrigerators and dishwashers, kitchens have become as high-tech as living rooms. Best induction cooktop is one important offering of this advanced technology.

Induction cooktops have transformed stovetop cooking with their great benefits. This kitchen appliance proves to be a better alternative to traditional electric or gas cooktops. After all, it allows you to do anything from boiling water to cooking your favorite dishes quickly, easily, and safely. With this great appliance, you don’t have to worry about gas flames, toxins, or burnt food.

induction cooktop vs gas – Which is Best ?

Pros of induction cooking:

  • Induction is amazingly fast. For example, gas will not bring a sizable pot of water to the boiling point considerably faster than an induction cooktop. This makes induction a time efficient and cost effective pick.
  • Induction is also extremely precise. This is particularly useful when cooking technically needing dishes that require a consistent temperature.
  • As mentioned, induction cooktops work by creating an electromagnetic reaction with all the metal in the pot. Put simply, the pot itself heats up, not the cooktop. This prevents your kitchen from becoming hot and uncomfortable, and also makes cooking much safer.
  • It’s impossible to accidentally leave your induction cooktop switched on after you have removed the pot – there’s no heat, if there’s no pot.
  • The level, smooth surface is not difficult to wipe clean. Additionally, it looks fantastic, particularly if you’re a fan of the minimalist kitchen aesthetic.
  • You can make use of the level surface of your induction cooktop as added bench space while it’s not in use.

Cons of induction cooking:

  • You can just use stainless steel or cast iron cookware with your induction cooktop.
  • Because a flat surface is used by induction cooktops, your cookware needs to have a flat base. This makes cooking with a round-based wok hard (although it is not impossible to purchase an induction wok adapter to solve this issue).
  • You also have to be cautious not the scratch the glass surface of your induction cooktop. Occasionally this can happen if a frypan roughly shaking.
  • Another possible issue with flat cooktops is that there’s nowhere for spills – you will end up on your own benchtop and also the floor with hot water if your pot boils over. In addition, you run the possibility of getting water under the top layer of the glass, which could cause electric problems. Nevertheless some induction cooktops include a boil-through detector, which automatically switches off the power if liquid is discovered on the surface of the cooktop.
  • Cost-wise, induction cooktops are still more costly to buy than gas or electric cooktops. Induction would be worth the investment nevertheless since they are so energy efficient.

Benefits of Induction Cooktops

Induction cooktops have become increasingly famous in many parts of the world because they offer plenty of benefits to cooking lovers. However, many households still need to embrace this great technology. The cooktops include coils that are made using a magnetic material. As current flows through these coils, it creates a magnetic field that is transferred to the pot or pan above it.

While the pot and its contents become hot, the cooktop and its surroundings never heat up. As soon as you remove the pot from the cooktop, the energy transfer finishes.

Offers Great Safety

This is one of the most amazing benefits an induction cooktop offers. If you have kids in your home, nothing can serve you better than an induction cooktop. After all, it doesn’t have any heat on its surface. While using an induction cooktop, you don’t need to worry about gas flames, grease fires, and obviously, gas leaks.

Greater Speed

An induction cooktop takes much less time to cook your favorite dishes. The reason being it is designed to heat up pans and pots quickly. Both electric and gas cooktops utilize a middle agent, such as an electric burner and flames respective, to transfer heat to the cooking utensil. An induction cooktop, on the other hand, produces heat right in the pot.

As electromagnetic activity takes place in the cooktop, its effects are transferred to the pot, and the pot heats up. Since this cooking process involves fewer steps, the heat takes much less time to get to the food.

An Energy-Efficient Kitchen Appliance

An induction cooktop is more energy-efficient than electric and gas cooktops. As it generates heat within the pot itself, a major part of that heat reaches the food. Unlike a gas flame and an electric burner, the heat released from an induction cooktop does not warm up your kitchen.

One of the most amazing results of this improved energy efficiency is minimum energy consumption. This enables you to enjoy a healthier living environment and of course, reduced power bills. As compared to a conventional cooktop, an induction cooktop can help you reduce energy consumption by 10 to 20 percent.

Offers Better Control

This is another important feature that pleases people who love cooking. Induction cooktops are responsive kitchen appliances. You simply need to turn a dial and choose your desired cooking settings. It allows for more precise and better control of heat, more temperature increments, and premium cooking performance. With this cooktop, you can make delicate sauces easily and effortlessly as it allows you to cook on the lowest setting.

Easy Cleanup

Cooking is great, but cooking that is easier and quicker to clean up after is more enjoyable. An induction cooktop doesn’t get excessively hot, so food doesn’t burn and get stuck onto it. This implies that you simply need to wipe spills using a clean sponge. This helps you avoid time-consuming scrubbing.

Main Types

Induction cooktops come in three basic styles: portable, built-in, and freestanding.

Portable Induction Cooktop

As with skillets and countertop grills, portable induction cooktops provide the convenience of cooking that is cellular telephone. To optimize counter space, the cooktop stores easily when not in use. The cooktop sits beside the cooker to augment conventional burners when numerous dishes should be warmed, including during preparation or potlucks of holiday dinners, when desired.
Accessible with a single or double burner, these little induction cooktops suit areas with limited space.

Built-In Cooktop

These induction cooktops are built into counters and possess the versatility to fit the layout of any kitchen as the name indicates. Consisting of only a thin, flat surface, built-in cooktops permit room beneath for open spaces, shelving, or cupboards. Built in cooktops range from a single burner surface to a full five-burner stovetop.

Freestanding Slide-In Range

Unlike built in and mobile cooktops, freestanding slide-in ranges comprise an oven together with the cooktop. This fashion of induction cooker slides into any space that will house a conventional stove and oven mix.

How to Use Induction Cooktops

If you like the rapid heating and simple functionality of electric stoves but want to enjoy more precise temperature control, then nothing can prove to be a better choice than an induction cooktop.

This efficient kitchen appliance is safer and more energy-saving than conventional electric and gas cooktops. Moreover, they boast cleaning ease and safety that beat out many ceramic and glass top stoves. While conventional cooktops heat food by applying a flame to the cookware’s bottom, an induction cooktop utilizes electromagnetism to heat the cooking utensil itself. As a result, you get consistent and uniformly heated food.

Step by Step Guide

Step 1: Read the Instruction Manual

Once you’ve purchased an efficient induction cooktop, make sure to go through the instruction manual that comes with your kitchen appliance. This may sound an unnecessary step, but you can’t underestimate the importance of identifying different components and parts of your induction cooktop. This will not only give you an idea about the working of this efficient and reliable kitchen appliance, but will also help you determine the dishes you can make using an induction cooktop. You can even find the basic temperature settings in this manual that may prove to be a great help in the long run.

Step 2: Turn on the Induction Cooktop

Many induction cooktops are equipped with the on/off button. Press this button to switch the appliance on or off. Some induction cooktops also feature indicator lights to show the appliance’s working status. As soon as you turn on the induction cooktop, its magnetic coils are activated. These coils generate electromagnetic fields that further create a heating reaction in iron and steel based pots and pans containing your food.

Step 3: Choose the Right Cooking Mode

Many induction cooktops feature different temperature or cooking modes. With these modes, you can make your desired food easily and quickly. These temperature settings may be high, medium, or low. You can even find preset cooking modes in some induction cooktops. For instance, certain induction cooktops offer manual, slow cook, pressure cook, stir fry, and several other cooking modes to add ease and speed to your cooking activities.

Choose the desired cooking and temperature level button. The corresponding indicator, if given, illuminates and the induction cooktop begins working at the selected temperature. You can even select the desired temperature manually by pressing the given plus and minus buttons. While some induction cooktops allow 5 degree temperature increments, others offer 10 degree increments.

Step 4: Monitor the Electronic Timer

A majority of induction cooktops are equipped with an electronic timer that allows you to keep an eye on your food. You simply have to use this timer to set the desired cooking duration for your favorite dish.

Step 5: Turn off the Induction Cooktop

Once the cooking time is completed, press the given on/off button to turn off this kitchen appliance. With this functional appliance, you can make varied dishes and meals speedily and conveniently.

How Induction Cooktop can Save Your Money?

Buying a new induction cooktop can be a great decision especially if it can add a new and interesting item in your kitchen. However it is strongly recommended that you read induction cooktop reviews before you go out and spend money on some cheap quality product.

Real reviews written by real people can teach you a lot about cooktops you are interested in buying.

Most induction cooktop reviews will help to understand some of the following things

  • How much is the weight of the induction cooktop?

  • What sort of kitchen utensil can be used on the induction cooktop range for best results?

  • How much time does the induction cooktop take to heat up and ready for cooking?

  • Are there any safety hazards for using such kind of cooktops?

  • What feature does the cooktop is equipped with? For example are there any arrangements for controlling the heating temperature and are these controls easy to use?

  • What is the average rating of the induction cooktop you are interested in? Rating is equally important as a review. A bad rating with 100+ reviews is almost useless from a consumer’s point of view.

  • Are there any extra shipping charges for those buying internationally?

  • What about various guarantees or warrantees from the manufacturer?

  • Which are the recipes that can be prepared very quickly in this type of induction cooktops?

These are some of probable questions you should look for when you read these induction cooktop reviews.

To help you and save your valuable time I have compiled a list of best-selling induction cooktop reviews from amazon.com on the right hand side column of this webpage. Make sure you read them and get the benefit of the valuable experience some consumers had. You can easily guess which ones are the best and which ones shuld be totally avoided.

How much does an induction cooktop cost?

Induction cooktop prices varies from each company, however I did some research and found out that there is a price range within which all major induction cooktop prices fluctuate.

However from my observation most people prefer a model between the range of $70 to $250.

How to save money while buying an induction cooktop?

The easiest way to save money while buying an induction cooktop is to use the following formula.

  • First look for the most popular brands. I have already compiled a list of best-selling and popular reviews on the right hand side.

  • The look and read their reviews. These reviews have been written by real people who used the cooktops. This way you have a very less chance of buying a cheap quality cooktop.

  • Thirdly also look at the overall rating of the cooktop. A product with lost of reviews but a rating of 2 out of 5 is of no use to you.

If you follow these simple steps you can’t fail with your purchase. remember it’s your hard earned money and only you should take the care that you get the best quality product from in return.

Induction Cooktop Efficiency – How efficient is your induction cooktop?

Are you in the market for a new stove? Naturally you will want to explore the different options available, especially since efficiency is obviously of concern to you. One option that is definitely worthy of your consideration is an induction cooker.

Since a large portion of most people’s  cooking is done on the cooktop, it is important to consider the induction cooktop efficiency in comparison to other styles. But before we get to that, we first need to understand exactly what an induction cooktop is.

Unlike other cookers that generate the heat on the actual stove itself, such as electric coils or gas stove tops, an induction cooker transfers the heat directly into the pot or pan.  This is great, as it means that induction cooking is not only faster than other types of stoves but it is considerably safer too.

Due to the fact that only the pot or pan that you are cooking with gets heated instead of the stove, there is less chance for someone to get burned while cooking. Also, because of the way the heat is transferred, the air around the stove does not get heated along with the food.

Now that we know more about induction cooking and how it works, let’s now look at the efficiency of the induction cookers. Is an induction cooktop more efficient than other cooktops, and if so, why? Remembering that only the pot and the substance cooking gets heated, not the air around the stove or the stove itself, there is a significant reduction in wasted energy.  In fact, no energy at all is being wasted while cooking. This may not seem like a big deal, but even small amounts of wasted energy can add up over time.

In short, the induction cooktops move energy from the stove top to the pan in a more efficient way than any other cooktop on the market today.  The induction cooktop efficiency saves energy and better still, saves you money.

The induction cooktop technology gives a far more efficient transfer of energy than a gas flame or heated electrical element and so boiling a pan of water, for example, is much quicker. This does not necessarily mean that there are great energy savings, but it is more efficeint and can save you time.

Why is it more efficient?

In non technical terms, this would be my explanation: The cooktop itself does not get hot. There is no energy wasted heating up the cooktop and then placing a pan on this hot area for the pan to get hot. Instead the induction field is generated just in the area covered by the pan. The pan itself heats up. Yes there will be some loss of radiant heat from the pan to the surrounding area, but nothing like as much as the wasted heat from a gas ring or electric cooktop heater that is too big for the pan.

There are many statements on the internet about how efficient induction cooktops are. How quickly they boil water. How efficiently they convey energy. What do these statements actually mean? What does it mean for your electricity bill? Your contribution to saving the environment? To summarize: Induction cooktops transfer energy fron the cooktop to the saucepan more efficiently than any other cooktop technology. Year by year you may save a small amount on your energy bill. At the moment, this saving will not offset the additional cost of an induction cooktop. (Much like solar panels. You have the latest, greenest technology. Your electricity bills are lower. But it cost you a lot to get them installed. Don’t get me wrong. We all have to do our bit for the environment but, don’t confuse short term savings with overall cost reduction.)

So are induction cooktops more efficient?

For the straight scientific answer I turned to a paper prepared for the US Depeartment of Energy, Office of Codes and Standards. I read most of this paper having found it online at US Department of Energy website. The main thrust of the paper is to look at the cost of appliances over their lifetime – so it looks at manufacturing cost, installation cost and running cost. The paper was written some years back (nineteen ninety something) and so reproducing those figures here is irrelevant. What is relevant however is the ‘efficiency’ of use of energy figures. The paper gives extensive detail on how these figures are calculated. It all seemed good to me. All very objective and scientific. Here is what they came up with. (And rememeber, a higher number is better in this list!)

Gas around 40, electric around 70, induction 84

The study looks at cooktops, conventional ovens, and microwave ovens which are rated using an energy factor. The energy factor (EF) is expressed as a percent and is the ratio of the annual useful cooking energy output of the cooking appliance (energy conveyed to the item being heated) to its total annual energy consumption.

The annual energy consumption includes the energy input during the time the load is being heated plus the energy consumed by other features such as a clock, standing pilot, electronic ignition system, or self-cleaning cycles. The DOE test procedure also defines the efficiency of the cooking appliance, and it is important not to confuse it with the energy factor. The efficiency is analogous to a steady-state efficiency as its value is calculated from measurements taken only during the time the load is being heated.

So what do we take away from all of this? At 1990 prices gas cooktops on the whole are cheaper to run. If you are using electric, induction is the hands down winner in terms of cost. Looking at the energy factor induction has the highest (best) score of 0.84 – almost 20% better than any other electric cooktop and twice the score of the nearest gas option.

Induction Cooktop Range – The best way to cook

Though most people still have not heard of an induction cooktop range, induction cooking is not a new concept. It has been used for some time by both homeowners and professionals alike, all around the world. The reason that induction cooktops are becoming more known recently is because the actual technology is getting better and the prices of these cooktops have gone down as well. Induction ranges are far superior to other ranges and are going to become more and more popular over the next few years.

Cooking with an induction range is truly one of the better ways to cook, not just for professionals, but for the average homeowner as well. Induction ranges use induction heating to cook the food, which means that the heat is generated inside of the pan or cooking pot instead of on the range itself. This makes cooking with a induction range a lot safer to work with.

Another reason why induction cooktops are superior is that they are energy efficient.  Because the heat is generated in the cooking pot instead of being generated on the stove top and then passed through the pan, the air around the range does not get heated along with what you are cooking. Over time this will add up to savings for you and your family.

Safety is always important when you are cooking. Imagine not having to worry about burning your hands or fingers anymore on the stove. Because the heat is not generated on the range top, you are much less likely to ever get burned. This is even more important when you are a parent and have children around.

Hopefully by now you can see why an induction cooktop range is a superior way to cook. Not only is it energy efficient, but also a whole lot safer for you and your family.

Is Induction Cooking Safe ?

At its simplest, an electrical current in the cooktop is used to produce a magnetic field. Placing the pan on the cooktop in the magnetic field induces a circulating electrical current in the base of the pan. The resistance to this current causes the pan to heat up. This system is a more efficient transfer of energy than a gas flame or heated electrical element and so boiling a pan of water, for example, is much quicker. This does not necessarily mean that there are great energy savings.

Is this safe?

To put our minds at rest, let us think of a few things that might go wrong…maybe leaving a small, magnetic piece of metal on the cooktop?

Each manufacturer I have looked at has a minimum pan detection size feature – the cooktop burner will not operate unless there is at least a four inch diameter (or similar) pan on the cooktop. How about trying to stir a pot of soup with a spoon made of something metalic? Will it get hot? Will my hand get pulled down to the surface of the cooktop?

For anyone with kids a sure plus point safety aspect – the cooktop itself does not heat up, only the pan. Small hands reaching up to the cooktop are less likely to get burnt.

Induction cooktops create an electromagnetic reaction between the induction cooking zone and also the pot. In exactly the same manner that iron or steel things will ‘adhere’ to a magnetic surface, a magnetic reaction to produce heat is utilised by induction cooktops.

Induction cooktops use cookware to warm. A magnetic field that heats the cooking container is generated by the coils. In conventional cooktops, the food is cooked by the heat transferred to the base of the cookware, but the whole pot or pan heats, and it is the heated container that cooks the food.

Since induction cooking uses electromagnetism to create a reaction causing heat rather than transferring heat from the component or using fire, the surface of the cooktop stays cool and safe to touch. In addition, the heat-free cooktop removes food baked onto its surface or burned.

Induction cooktops create heat within the pot itself, while conventional electric cooktops work by heating the cooking zone and transferring heat to the pot. Thus, induction cooking is energy efficient, safe and very quick.

Again I rely on the manufacturers statements as well as reviews by people who have used the induction cooktops. The magnetic field is only induced in the thin slice just above the cooktop where the base of the pan is.

The pan gets hot, this heats its contents but not your favorite stirring spoon. What about my iron jewelry? Same as the spoon in the previous example. No, as far as I know, you will not be dragged to the cooktop by magnetism and cooked by your jewelry.

I will not and cannot categorically state that it is safe – I am not a scientist or expert in the subject but I will say this: From everything I have read during the course of my research the manufacturers SEEM to have the safety aspect covered. Personally I would quite happily get an induction cooktop.

As I said I am no scientist but I understand enough basic physics not to be worried by this technology.

Things to Consider when Buying a Cooktop:

Before purchasing a induction cooktop, it is important to be thoroughly knowledgeable about the various types and attributes as to be sure what type of model fits a particular customer perfectly.

With this buying guide, the various kinds and special factors will probably be described to be able to help those potential buyers out there. Here are some important tricks before you purchase, to mull over an induction cooktop Tricks:

Size

Your first consideration should be size when buying a cooktop. The lowest cooktops start with a width of 30cm (featuring a maximum of two cooking zones), while the biggest go up to around 90cm. While all cooktops are very different, the most usual size is 60cm (with four cooking zones) .

The size of the induction cooktop will depend on your cooking needs, number of members in the family and other such factors. If you use big-sized pans in your kitchen, it is better to use an induction cooktop that can easily utilize them without any problems regarding space. You might also want to place multiple pans on the cooktop together. Such concerns can’t be overlooked while buying an induction cooktop.

Make sure you assess the space available on your own kitchen benchtop then assess the measurements of the cooktop you’re intending to purchase, if you’re replacing an old cooktop. Cooktop sizes have changed through the years, and you also don’t desire to learn the hard way that your new cooktop is too big/little for the space.

Safety – There are some induction cooktops that are capable of sensing what kind of cookware you are using, and compensate for the changes accordingly. Even magnetic masses of your pans are detected by high quality sensors on the equipment. It is worth mentioning that induction cooktops require you to use pans containing ferrous materials.

Generally, 5 inch diameter pots and pans are used with induction cooktops. It is also better if you buy an induction cooktop with overheat protection feature. This allows the equipment to switch itself off when it has been overheated. If there are children in your home, it is important to buy a cooktop with child safety features.

Number of cooking zones

A 60cm broad range will give you 4 induction cooking zones, which ought to provide ample space in the event that you only need to cook basic meals.

Broader cooktops provide space for additional hobs – the easier it’s to prepare large quantities of food, the more cooking zones you’ve got. A broad cooktop will safely and easily accommodate large pots and pans – which is amazing when you have an increasing family and require to cook a lot of food.

Touch controls

Most models of induction cooktop attribute touch controls instead of control knobs. These cooktops let you change the temperature by simply touching the glass surface by means of your finger. Touch controls are great should you would like your cooktop to merge into the kitchen benchtop. In addition they make cleaning easy.

Convection – Another unique feature you should look for in induction cooktops is the ability to easily customize how the surface area will function. Such induction cooktops are called domino units. This happens because of the various modules of single and paired elements that can be easily used simultaneously.

When it comes to convection, proper sensors are also necessary in induction cooktops. There should be a sensor that automatically detects whether your pans and pots are on the unit or not. This ensures the safety of your equipment. Such sensors also make sure that your induction cooktop automatically turns off when it is not being used. This is one of the most important safety measures for both homes and businesses. You will also be able to save more energy.

Efficiency – While buying an induction cookware, your primary goal should be to choose a unit that leads to higher energy efficiency. You need a unit that features many different power settings. It should provide you with a degree of control over the cooking process. It is important to understand that different foods and dishes require different temperatures and settings. You need to buy a unit with more power settings. Moreover, it should be Energy Star rated.

Warranty & Return Policy – The brand you choose should offer good warranty on the product. The return policy of the company should also be exceptional. If there are any problems with the unit, you should be able to get it repaired or replaced without any problems. Customer support plays an important role when you’re buying an induction cooktop.

Automatic pan size acknowledgement

Induction cooktops do this by default – they discover the size and shape of the cookware you’re using and correct the power supply to suit. This is one reason why induction cooktops are so energy efficient.

Timer

Another attribute to keep an eye out for is an automatic timer. Accessible models that are advanced, the timer function lets you program the cooktop to change off (or lower the temperature) at a predetermined time – freeing you up to concentrate on different aspects of the dish you’re creating. (Note: it is not recommended that you leave your pot unsupervised at any given time. Please read the instructions of the manufacturer’s before use).

Increase

The boost function (available in selected models) provides an added increase of power to the cooking zone – making it possible to bring big pots of water to the boil in record time.

Price – How and where to buy

Induction ranges have really changed the way we cook in the kitchen. They cut your cooking time down, are really easy to use and clean, and are much safer than other types of ranges. If you are into being “green”, then induction cooktops are for you.

They are around 80% more efficient than other ranges. This means lower electric bills for you. But before you buy, you need to think about the induction cooktop price and where to buy them from.

Some people will not buy anything that they cannot physically see, feel or test before buying. This can make it hard to buy certain things. But if you are that type of person, you will probably need to go to your nearest store that sells induction ranges to see them for yourself. This unfortunately will lessen the variety of ranges that you can choose from, but you should still be able to find one that suits you.

If you are not the type of person that needs to physically see something before buying, then your best option will be to search around the Internet for an induction cooktop. Not only can you do induction cooktop comparisons between brands and the websites that sell them, but you can also search and read through the customer reviews, both good and bad, of induction cooktops too.

This will make your buying process a lot easier. Doing this type of research and the reading of reviews from previous buyers will ensure that you get a good deal, good service and also get exactly what you are looking for.

Once you find one that you have your heart set on and you are happy with the induction cooktop price, you should take the time to make sure it will fit into your kitchen. Measure the space where you will have it installed. The worst thing that could happen is that you will receive one and it won’t fit properly in your kitchen.

An induction oven has many advantages over your typical gas or electric coil ovens. I’ll go over the advantages followed by the disadvantages and then give reviews on some of the top induction ovens on the market.

The biggest advantage to the induction oven is that you do not have to worry about a gas leak. Gas leaks can be terribly dangerous and one mistake can blow up your entire house. If you or your family happen to be in the house when this happens, the consequences can be deadly.

This will not happen when you use induction heating because you will not need to use gas. Find out more about this on my page on cooktop reviews. You’ll also keep safe by not having an open flame in your kitchen. No more worries of fires breaking out because something flammable made its way onto the oven.

One other advantage is that an induction oven does not require as much power as the other types of ovens. This means your electric bill will be lower each month.

The disadvantage to this type of oven is that it can be more expensive to buy. In addition to this, you will have to use certain types of pots. Some people also complain that their food cooks too quickly. This is probably because induction cooktops heat up quickly which can be both an advantage and a disadvantage.

My Induction Cooktop Story

Here is my induction cooktop reviews story.  I hope you enjoy it.  A few years ago, we transitioned over to induction cooking.  We were kind of late to the party.  We definitely had heard of induction cooking before.  However, it seemed to have some sort of mysterious aura around it and ominous glow of something new.  To tell you the truth, we were a bit intimidated to consider a new cooking method that didn’t involve either an electric or gas cooktop.

When we looked back to the time prior to being introduced to induction cooking, we did realize that adjusting to cooking or heating up food using a microwave oven was something that took us some time to adapt to as well.  When we were first introduced to microwave cooking, we knew we would need to learn an entire new language that referenced a reality that wasn’t entirely visual, like the electric coil’s red hot intensity or height of the flame.

This was something we worried about.  We wondered how we were going to be able to tell when food was “done” that was inside the microwave.  Even microwaves themselves were somewhat of a concern.  We worried that we might be exposing ourselves to radiation that could result in unknown side effects after being exposed for many years.

Induction cooktop vs microwave

These worries about microwave cooking today appear to be quaint. The truth of the matter is, we shy way from or fear anything that represents a paradigm shift or changes up the status quo.  It pushes us out from our comfort zones.  What’s going on here?  We spent so much time getting used to and learning how to operate microwave ovens.  Now they are expecting us to abandon all of that, and start all over once more with induction cooking.  It’s not like we are sixteen years old anymore and love jumping from one tech gadget to the next.  We still aren’t used to texting.  We have had enough.  We’d rather stick with what we know works.

Is this something you can relate to? Now here comes induction cooking.

We started hearing more about induction cooking.  We started to gradually become aware that induction cooking equipment, accessories and utensils could help with saving money in the long-term.  We also realized they were eco-friendly (“green”), not expensive, and would allow us to cook our food in a safe and faster way.  It was safer because there was no flame, and the only thing that was heated was the pan and not the entire cooking surface.  This form of cooking also kept the kitchen cooler.  We discovered that induction cooking was a lot more efficient.  Gas and electric cooktops waste as much as half of their energy.  Induction cooking uses as much as 90 percent of its energy.  Induction cookers can be used outside.  They can be used in the backyard or taken on a camping trip.  They can be plugged into any electric current.

We became hooked.  It was impossible to ignore the many advantages of induction cooking.  So we started to research, learn and read all we could about induction cooking.  Our first induction cooktop was a portable one.  We didn’t need to make a big investment that way.  It also gave us the flexibility to get rid of it without a lot of damage or cost if we decided it wasn’t for us.

The journey for us has been a long one.  However, at this point, we wouldn’t ever go back to gas or electric.  We did go through a learning curve and period of adjustment.  However, it only took us a couple of days to figure out the best settings for our food to turn out just the way we wanted it to.  One of the things we really love about induction cooking is how precisely we can simmer sauces.

If you decide to give induction cooking a try, I can practically guarantee you that you will not want to go back to cooking on either an electric or gas stove top.  There would be no reason to.  After all, induction cooking cuts down on your cooking time by as much as half and utilizes energy a lot more efficiently.  Portable induction cooktops are a great way to get started with induction cooking.

So there is my induction cooktop reviews story.  Soon you’ll have your own story that involves inviting your friends over for a delicious meal cooked with your induction cooktop.  They will marvel at the impressive appearance of your cooktop, the delicious food and the money and energy savings that you enjoy.

Induction Cooker FAQs

No doubt you’ve heard about induction cooking, or seen it on television or even in YouTube videos.

Nowadays, induction cooktops have been engineered, manufactured and to withstand all that a commercial or residential kitchen can throw at them.

With that in mind, we are happy to share the FAQ’s below:

Q: Just what is induction cooking?

A: Below the cooktop’s glassy smooth surface, the induction process utilizes a high frequency coil that heats cookware by way of a generated magnetic field. In effect, induction cooking is the only cooking method in existence that actually uses the cookware itself as part of the cooking system.

Q: Are specific pans and pots required for induction cooking?

A: Specific pans and pots are indeed required:special induction cookware. In order to effectively generate the magnetic field that heats the cookware, iron content must be used in the bottom of the cookware. You can determine whether or not the bottom of your cookware contains iron by using a magnet. If the magnet sticks to the bottom of 7the pot or pan, you can rest assured that the induction cooktop will heat the cookware.

Q: How fast is induction cooking compared to conventional types of surface cooking?

A: Induction stovetops and portable induction units will heat cookware faster than radiant or gas cooktops. Induction cooktops bring water to a boil faster when compared to both these methods; the radiant cooktop requires approximately 12 minutes, while the gas cooktop 13 ¾. One and a half gallons of water can be brought to a boil via induction cooking in as little as 8 ½ minutes.

Q: How will delicate foods, chocolate, etc. fare on an induction cooker?

A: Induction cooktop controls enable the user to obtain a degree of precision with heating controls that can’t be easily obtained on conventional devices. Induction offers a low heat setting that’s perfect for preparing delicate dips and sauces requiring very low simmering, or any of the lowest temperatures that may be required for preparing certain dishes and meals.

Q: Why don’t the cooktops and their surrounding surfaces get hot?

A: The area that comes into contact with the iron-content or magnetic cookware is what induction cooktop technology targets with NASA-like precision, and this is the only area that is heated. The un-used portion of the element remains unheated.

Q: How does induction differ from cooking with radiant or gas cooktops?

A: With induction cooking, there’s no open flame, heated surface or exposed coil. An element may be accidentally turned on, but no heat will be produced unless cookware is placed on the element. When cookware is removed from the element, the coil is de-energized and cycles into auto-turn-off within 30 seconds.

Q. Can induction cooktops replace an existing cooktop?

A: There are a host of induction cooktops available on the market; these can be fitted into all worktops and kitchen spaces in whatever size or arrangement that may be desired.

Q. Can Induction cooktops be installed even if you own a wall oven?

A: The cooktops can be installed above certain wall ovens. The installation instructions will give you specific information.

Q. Can Induction cooktops be installed even if you own a wall oven?

A: The cooktops can be installed above certain wall ovens. The installation instructions will give you specific information.

Q. Can you use an extension cord with induction stovetop?

A: It can be used, but only with 100-130 VAC models; and the cord should not exceed 10 feet. Many extension cords are poorly constructed and therefore shorting or tripping of the breakers may be a risk. Do not use extension cords with induction cooktop models designated 200-240VAC.

Q. Is an induction cooktop easy to clean?

A: Since the unused portion of the cooktop remains relatively cool because it is unheated, most spillovers won’t cook onto the surface, since the portion of the cooktop that is not utilized will remain relatively cool because it’s unheated. Cooktop controls are glass touch controls rather than knobs, and this facilitates easy cleaning.

Q. What should be used to clean the cooktop?

A: No special cleaning materials are needed to clean an induction cooktop. Simply wipe splatters or spills off with a damp sponge or cloth.

Q. What about the unit’s radiation? Is this a health hazard?

A: The electromagnetic field that an induction cooktop generates is only active when cookware is placed atop the hob; the field is only generated a few centimeters around the pot or pan’s bottom. Electromagetic fields are produced by many devices, such as cell phones, infra-red, microwaves, etc. The elecromagnetic field produced by induction cooktops are not a health hazard.

Note: Testing and cooking times referenced are based on 3,700-watt induction elements, 3,000 watt radiant element, and 17,000 BTU gas burners.

In addition to induction cooktops there are also many single burner freestanding induction units available. These are very popular in many South East asian countries where space is limited in the kitchen. They range in price from as little as $100 on up.

Induction cooktops satisfy anyone looking for quick, efficient, and safe cooking. The efficiency reduces electricity bills, the decreased cooking time gives cooks more time for other activities, and also the cool surface eliminates burned fingers of children interested about dinner menus.
